2014.12.22 AD - Body = clothes.

Good morning. This is Arashi’s Ohno Satoshi.
Here’s the thought of the day; come on!

"When I really thought about searching for various new things, clothes become bodies, don’t they? And bodies become clothes! This is what I realised. This is one way of thinking about so-called new clothes."

[BGM ‘Ano Hi no Merry Christmas’]

How cool, huh?
This is a quote by the founder of fashion brand Comme des Garçons and world-famous designer, Kawakubo Rei-san. This was sent in by listener Nonoko-san from Setagaya, Tokyo. The message reads:
"Satoshi-kun, good morning. Recently, I’ve been invited to a wedding and for the Buddhist memorial service, we were requested to dress formally. However, since my clothes weren’t broken in, I got really stiff shoulders, I couldn’t help thinking it’s just like Kawakubo-san said, that clothes become your body. Satoshi-kun pulls off transparent clothes and suits alike, naturally, but do you ever mind when you wear clothes that are different from your usual?"

Man, for me, honestly, I don’t really have all that much interest in fashion, so no matter what clothes I get, I’ll wear them.

That’s right! Speaking of which, for my birthday, that was about a month ago, right? Well, um, I got some clothes from Kanjani’s Maru. And Kanjani’sOhkura? From Chuu, too[1].

Now Chuu, he gave me a jersey. I was happy about that.

And then Maru, he always gives me something expensive. The other time, at during Best Artist show, when we were walking backstage, Maru was like, "Oh-chan, this time it’s kinda…. I thought about all sorts of things but it was all in vain."

"Ah, that’s totally fine, you don’t have to."

"No, but I really had nothing. I’ll think a little more."

"No, well… Did I ask you to?"

Well, we play along with little skits like that. And then after the Best Artist ended, when I got into the car to go home, there was this incredibly huge bag.

I asked my manager, "What’s this?"

"Ah, it’s from Kanjani’s Maruyama-san."

I was fooled. "What on earth could it be?" I wondered. It was a huge black bag. So when I went home and opened it, and there was this fine duffel coat? Like it was made of some really great material, too.

I didn’t know if it was a branded coat or something, but like, I couldn’t help wondering how much did he buy it for. When I investigated it… well, well, well, it was a pretty sum.

So I was like, should I do the same to him? I thought about it and there were shoes or something of the same brand. So I’d decided on those shoes. Well, they were incredibly… they’re gold shoes. (laughs)

Like, well, I’ve heard that he’s into that sort of crazy fashion, so well, I figured it’d be fine for him to wear it at times like that.

But well, I’m kinda scared for next year, actually! (laughs)

But well, it’s really… He properly… He really thinks things through and does them. Yeah. It’s very Maru-like. Yeah.

Well, thank you very much for the wonderful duffel coat!

That’s all; this was Ohno Satoshi!
