2015.01.28 AD - Relationships born from trivial things.

Good morning. This is Arashi’s Ohno Satoshi.
Here’s today’s thought of the day; come on!

"Relationships of mutual trust between people normally just come from discussing the most trivial things. It’s from those things, little by little, that it is born."

[BGM ‘Imaging Crazy’]

I understand. Anything goes.
This is a quote by professional baseball player and former manager for the Seibu Lions and theYokohama BaystarsMori Masaaki-san. For the 9 years that Mori-san was the Seibu Lions’ manager, he lead the team to be an 8-time Pacific League champion and a 6-time Japan series champion.

Ohh. This is something said by a manager, so it’s definitely legit.

Well, for my radio show, too. Welll… I talk about a lot of trivial things. And all you listeners out there still tell me that you look forward to it every day. I keep wondering whether it’s really all right?

Really, I’ve been talking about the most meaningless things. And I’ve been at it for 10 years. I’ve always wanted to ask what was the most trivial thing I talked about. (laughs) On these 10 years of radio.

Previously, in the first couple of years when I started doing radio, um, the staff-san burnt me a CD of it. I used to listen to it in the car with my manager. Man, the contents were really about nothing at all, ever since then.

But well, lately, at this acquaintance’s store… There aren’t any private rooms, so I went to the counter. By myself.

So my friend was like, in the kitchen which was right in front of me, so he said it’d be okay to talk. As you’d expect, people around us would notice, right? But if you were at the counter there, if you just slanted diagonally a little, it’d probably be fine, he said. Nobody’d notice.

So fine, I’d go, I said. So there were guests in there, but well, it was all right. In terms of the line of sight, the position. And then we really had a lot of fun.

Basically I’d go with friends to private rooms, right? But somehow being at the counter was kinda stylish. Like talking to the storekeeper while having a meal, that was kinda incredible. Like it was in the open. But once I had a little to drink, that was kinda nice.

Then I was like, "I’m going to the toilet". Then as the guy who’s been trying to hide himself, I just go and take care of my business right out in the open at the toilet. "You’re not hiding, are you?!" (laughs)

How’s that for trivial stories?

The sort of thing like that just now, I think I have a mountain of them. From the past 10 years. So all you listeners out there, if you have any you particularly remember, I’d like to take submissions.

"That Ohno-kun, anything goes. At such an early hour in the morning, too, that’s terrible! Like he’s not even trying." (laughs)

I ask your favour please! Like, if you have any. If you don’t, that’s fine. Don’t go out of your way. Please mail in.

It’s from these things that relationships of mutual trust are born. Little by little. So I’ll be waiting for your mail.

That’s all; this was Ohno Satoshi!
