2015.01.23 AD - Of excellent luck and dreams coming true.

[BGM ‘Imaging Crazy’]

Good morning. This is Arashi’s Ohno Satoshi.
Every Friday I respond to the messages received on this show.

First up is one from Rie-san.
"The other day, on your radio show, you asked whether there are familiesdrawing o-mikuji where all members get ‘excellent luck’. From New Year’s Eve until the 4th, I was a working as a miko-san selling o-mikuji. As you’d expect, there weren’t any families where all the members drew ‘excellent luck’, but there was one family where all the members drew ‘bad luck’. Ohno-san, did you draw o-mikuji this year? Incidentally, I tried it twice and on both occasions got ‘excellent luck’.”

Ohh. What do you mean by ‘tried it twice’? I wonder if you can just draw it however many times without attaching any meaning to it? But I’d like to see the faces of that family where everyone got ‘bad luck’. Mm.

But well, what about it? I rarely do that sort of thing. In the past, when I was a child, maybe. There were those o-mikuji keychains, right? I had one of those. But no matter how many times I drew o-mikuji, I don’t think my reactions changed. (laughs)

For example, even if I drew ‘bad luck’, I’d just laugh and be done with it. I don’t really pay much attention to it.

(in a hoarse voice) Fate is something you make yourself. (laughs) Who was that?

But well, even for the family who all drew ‘bad luck’, I’d like you to all think positively anyway. Right.

Next, from Non-chan.
"My father’s always liked the sea and fishing since way back. In my case, too, I was brought along fishing ever since my elementary school days. So the other day, my dad celebrated his 50th birthday and suddenly said,"Dad’s going to become a fisherman, starting from next week," and had apparently quit his job some time ago. In less than a week, he had become a fisherman.”
"Even though I was surprised, despite his age, I thought my dad doing what he really wants is something amazing. So now I’m wholeheartedly supporting him. Satoshi-kun, please give my first-year fisherman dad a word of encouragement."

Man, that’s really impressive. He’d probably be waking up at this hour, right? I think he’s been putting up with it until now, your dad has. Yeah. So from now on, it’s great that he gets to do what he wants, right? So that’s how far he’s come.

I mean, isn’t it amazing? "Starting from next week". That’s pretty well planned. I mean, did he buy a boat or something, I wonder? Man, it’s just that, the sea’s naturally scary. Um, I sincerely hope he’s careful. He wants to go out there, doesn’t he? But try as best as you can to make it on days when the wind isn’t too strong. I’d rather you didn’t force yourself.

Non-chan’s Papa, good luck! Let me come with you one day!

Next, one from Neko-ni-koban-san.
"Ohno-san, good morning. I have an incredibly serious problem, please hear me out. I’ve formed a band with my fellow mum friends and somehow or another, I like our members too much. I get overjoyed when we perform together and it seems like I’d do anything to be with them. Everyone in Arashi are on really good terms with each other, right? I, too, want to remain together on good terms until we become grannies. But I have so much member-ai that it can’t be contained in the whole world. All I think about whether I’m asleep or awake is my band. How do I contain these feelings of love? Please save me with any advice you have!”

Man, it’s fine, isn’t it? I have no advice. There’s nothing as happy as this, is there?

[BGM ‘Sakura Sake’]

Well, on that note, if you’re starting to neglect something because of that, then that’s a problem. But well, as long as you can properly keep up while being in a band, that’s fine. That’s the best thing ever, isn’t it? Right now?

I don’t have anything, in terms of advice. I mean, even if I did, it wouldn’t suppress anything, would it? (laughs) You probably don’t want to hold it down, anyway. It’s just that I’d rather you don’t run on any weird wild rampages. Like, "From now on, I want to travel the world and leave my family behind!" It’d be scary if you went down that path! (laughs)

But well, I think it’s a good thing. But well, it’s a good thing to be on good terms with your band members. So I’d like you to keep things as they are. Even for the next 5 years, as long as you have this feeling, that’s the best. Well, please enjoy it.

Next, from Kana-chan, age 15.
"Satoshi-kun, there’s only a short while left until my exams. I’m nervous but it can’t be helped. Please give me encouragement!"

Ahh, is that so? There’s no time left. Mm. Well, rather than forcing it and pulling those all-nighters, I think it’s better to get some proper sleep and be the best you can right now. It’s cold, so take care that you don’t catch a cold. Yeah.

On that note, Kana-chan and all the students nationwide taking exams, please do the best you can in your own way, with all your might! If you do that, you’ll have no regrets.

Good luck!

And so with that, the weekly Friday messages have been answered. I’ll be awaiting your mail. The address is arashi@fmyokohama.co.jp. I’ll be waiting for you to send me lots of messages.

See you next week; this was Ohno Satoshi!
